Love of Tools

My husband always says, "Right tool for the right job." Hence his love of collecting tools.

Well, since I started designing jewelry, I've been doing quite a bit of tool collecting, as well. My latest acquisition is a flex shaft -- which, by the way, was a Christmas gift from my aforementioned husband.

This flex shaft lets me do a whole lot of things better and faster -- drilling and polishing, for example. With my latest creation, "Two Hearts Are One Pendant," I was able to use the flex shaft to drill appropriate holes quickly, rather than the slow hand drill method. Once I completed sawing the Chinese character for "heart" and did some preliminary filing and sanding, I was able to use the flex shaft again for polishing with an excellent result.

I love my tools AND my husband!

Nuggets of Fun!

I've been away from the bench for a while, doing my consulting work. This week, I felt so happy being back, checking out my stash of stones and thinking about new designs. I decided to experiment making a silver nugget charm from my scrap pile. I like how it turned out -- especially its "imperfections". I used the charm in a necklace along with some of my favorite stones. I will definitely be making more of these nuggets soon!
